Online Holiday Sales Turning Up New Goods

It started with a casual scan of the usual retail sites, looking for new release items to follow up on. While following links to the outdoor lights from last year (Yoda and R2-D2) a couple of new sets caught our eyes. Clone Wars Yoda, Cone Troopers, and C-3PO have been added for 2011!

We spent about an hour online going through Christmas listings, both new and old, and decided to pull them all together in one place for you to shop.

Our 4-pack of Star Wars Gomu erasers, as reported on October 26th, arrived yesterday. You may recall that the package showed two erasers (Millennium Falcon and Darth Vader) and includes two 'hidden erasers'. This is a great introduction to the Gomu Star Wars license, but with our revelation today, it also has filled us with a bit of sadness.

A routine Jedi Academy field trip is turned into a rip-roaring comic adventure in LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace. Tour guide Master Yoda leads a group of rambunctious Jedi Younglings through Senate chambers when he senses a disturbance in the Force. Summoned to help save the Republic, he discovers that one of the Younglings secretly boarded his ship...and has a taste for adventure! Meanwhile, C-3PO and R2-D2 are put in charge of the boisterous group and find themselves in over their heads. As the evil Sith prepare to wreak havoc, it's up to Yoda and the droids to ensure that their young charges aren't torn to bricks!

We just put a considerable amount of time and resources into the Online Toy Catalog (which has over 18,000 fun and collectible items!) and decided to take it for a test drive. While thumbing through all of the oddities in the Star Wars section, these bluetooth ear pieces caught our eye.

Every edition of the Star Wars Super Collectors Wish Book (up until the latest one) have always shipped in April. The 5th edition started shipping from the publisher last November, which mixed things up a bit.

Consider the average book's transit. The book is trucked from the publisher's warehouse to the retailer's warehouse where it's inventoried and put into que to be shipped out. Once the shipment it's in is ready, the book starts on it's way to a retail outlet. Once the store receives the book, it's inventoried again and then finally put on the shelf.

In the April or May time frame, transit and stock times aren't that big of a issue. Now it's suddenly November and all of a sudden Christmas is closer than you think! (50 days left as of the day this was posted.)

For months retailers and online sites took pre-orders for the book. Most of those were filled immediately when the first wave of books hit their destination. Now there's a line forming for the books coming in the first, second, and even third re-orders. Most will make it in time for the holiday. Some will not. If you've got to have a copy before Christmas to give to that special Star Wars collector, you're in luck. We know who has them and their price isn't marked up due to holiday demand. (Which means don't succumb to eBay.)
