Clone Wars Trading Cards by Topps - Collect Them All!|
If you remove the temptation to begin chasing the Artist Sketch Cards, there is still quite an impressive amount of cards (and coins!!) you have to track down to complete a set. Along with the 90 base cards there are 90 foil parallel cards (the base set of 90 which have had foil treatments added to them), 10 Animation Cel cards, 10 unique Foil cards, 5 Motion cards, and two promo cards. Target has their own unique add-ins... five 'red' animation cel cards, and ten 'red' coins!
|Star Wars Collecting Database Exceeds 55,000 Pre-Defined Items|
The September 1st update for the database program "Wishbase" marks the milestone of 55,000 pre-defined entries which can be added to a Collector's list to track the contents and approximate value of their collection.
|Happy Anniversary, Happy Birthday, and Happy New Year!
Happy Birthday to the Collector's Database! It was one year ago today that I wrote the first line of code for it. To celebrate the event and advance the features, the database has been completely re-coded from top to bottom! The Super Collector's Database version 2.00a is now available for download!
December Pushes Collectible Database Over 50,00 Entries
In April of 2005, the third edition of the Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book hit the bookstore shelves with over 39,000 individual items listed. At the time of release, the Collector's Database had over 41,000 items in it, thanks in part to the Star Wars CCG cards being omitted from the book due to concerns of space and redundancy.
Version 1.25a provides new features
For the most part, from version 1.00a to 1.20d the database program for Star Wars collectors offered code optimizations, a couple of bug fixes, and experiments with routines that would lead to much more powerful options. With the brand new 1.25a, all of the new features are now available!
Super Collector's Database File Format Update
I have been working with some collectors whose database are starting to reach upwards of 5,000 or more records. I program with a P4 3.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, so I haven't noticed the slow downs that other collectors have experienced. To help collectors whose PCs may not be as fast as mine, I have gone back and re-worked the file access routines for better optimization.
From 46,683 to 48,054?
If you were one of the first people to use the Super Collector Database to track your Star Wars collection, you'll notice how incredibly far it's come in two short months.
Super Collector's Database Updated to v1.1a
If you're attending the Star Wars Celebration III in Indianapolis this week, make certain you stop by booth 423 to see the new database in action!
I still haven't created the April 2nd Star Wars photo identification list for the website, but I did get all of the edited photos in place in the Online Database. Perhaps you should start a scavenger hunt and go looking to see what you can find! (Hint... make sure to look in Chairs, Bedding, Shirts, Air Fresheners, and Packaging!) All of the 300+ items that I found are pictured.
The online database now has over 46,600 listings!
Now you can track your collection using the book, or record it in your own database!
Update ... Wide Beta Release of the Database is now available for Download! Click on 'Database Support' on top bar of this site.
The Star Wars Super Collector's Wish Book started off as a database for collection tracking. Originally written in QuickBasic 4.5 in 1996 and then in .html eBook format from 1998-2000, the program has now been reveloped under the Microsoft .NET framework.
We've also changed the graphics a bit... The New Blue Stars will now direct you to the categories and items that have images. Once you arrive at an image, you may click the thumbnail and a larger image will download for better viewing.
Images from July 8th (last update) to present have brought the image count up to 3,900!
It's a far cry from the 29,000 that will eventually end up there, but a whole lot more (and wider variety!) then most other sites have to offer.
If you hear of something interesting in the newer diary entries (since March 04) you should be able to look it up in the database and see the full image in great detail!
It's back, and it's huge!
In the year 2000 the original StarWarsGuide.net collectible database was taken offline because I had written a book using the data. Now that I've got two books out with a third on the way, I've decided to put the guide back online. Over 42,000 entries are available in checklist format. Currently you can only view by Category, but eventually I'll get the "View by Manufacturer" and "View by Contributor" working as well. Also, because I have to go through extra steps to protect my images, they'll be coming online slowly.
Check it out today! Click on "COLLECTIBLE DATABASE" in the gold letters above!
