The First Licensed Star Wars Candlestick Holder Since 1981
We hate putting caveats on our articles, but as Obi-Wan is fond of pointing out, many things are true from certain points of view... under 'party supplies', there are holders of birthday candles for cake tops which could be argued as being candle holders. If you eliminate the disposable / single use candle holders, there have only been two licensed as housewares.
In 1981 Sigma The Tastesetter had a ceramic porcelain Yoda candlestick holder. Today we received the second ever licensed candlestick holder, a Darth Vader lightsaber replica with base!

When we opened the Think Geek brown shipping box, inside was a plain white mailer box. Generic product packaging isn't unusual for website exclusive items since they never have to sit on a retail shelf and try to visually sell themselves to shoppers wandering past. It's just a sad fact that collectors have to deal with. So we opened the box to photograph the Star Wars candlestick holder he had been anxiously awaiting.
Inside the white mailer box was our first surprise! A high quality, full color, rigid box! The front and back photos (above) don't do the package justice. The side graphics are wonderful! The box itself is 12"x5"x4" and durable! Inside the box is a foam pad protecting the candlestick, which is in it's own foam insert, and underneath that layer are red taper candles! (Appropriate for a Sith lord, and a striking visual when they're in the holder.)
Think Geek has really outdone themselves again! These are so impressive that we're considering picking up a second one so that we'll have a nice pair to light up the table at our next Star Wars related dinner party. |
