Star Wars Lava Lamp Night Light

    Collectible Showcase
Star Wars Lava Lamp Night Light by Idea Noveau

We told you about this nightlight back in June of 2008. AT the time we had commented on how $14 was a little steep for the mini lamp. Guess what? We found ours ... we had purchased one and misfiled it and it has just now resurfaced ... and now we're HAPPY to have paid the $14. There's only one source for them left online and the price has gone to $22.60!

You may have noticed that this article is under 'Showcase' instead of 'online shopping'. We like to check current status on items we feature. If you do decide the nightlight is cool after all, we've added a link so you can have a look to see if there are any left.

The idea was really kind of cleaver. In 2005 with the huge Revenge of the Sith merchandise blitz going on, Idea Noveau designed this mini lava lamp night light - probably with the Mustafar tie-in in mind.

Instead of the classic lumpy lava stuff that heats up in traditional lamps, the light uses large pieces of glitter that shift around in the liquid which is heated by the light. Surprisingly, it works very well. (We expected the glitter to settle. The liquid is thick enough to hold it up. After a couple of weeks of use, there doesn't seem to be any breakdown or degradation of the liquid suspension. The little light seems to worth the original retail price of $20.

As a quick tip, no new night lights have been listed in the Star Wars Super Collectors Wish Book since the Adam Joseph Industries in book #1, and since book #5 has already gone to press, you won't find this one or any images of it in the Wish Book until at least the 6th edition (2011). Users of the Online Database or downloadable database will see it added as of the September 15th update.
