    Now These Are Different!

R2-D2 USB Hubs From Around The World!

After so many repackaging / reruns on the market, its refreshing to finally report two-of-a-kind that aren't a matched pair! As you can see from the photos above, the R2-D2 USB 2.0 hub on the left has 2 USB ports showing at the bottom and on the R2-D2 on the right you can see two USB ports on his left shoulder.

So, what are the other differences? Read on to find out more!

First, a clarification. Even though both models of R2-D2 USB 2.0 hub pictured above only have 2 visable ports, both really have 4. R2-D2 by Wesco Limited, UK (left) has 2 in front and two behind him in the back. The R2-D2 by Cube Works, Japan has 2 on his left shoulder and 2 on his right.

The price difference is considerable. The UK R2 (which is the one currently available from Target.com) costs $40 and the R2 from Japan costs between $80 and $100 depending on where you order him from.

Wesco R2 is fairly static, with legs that can be positioned and a sound chip to make R2 chirp and bleep when you plug devides into his data ports. Cube Works R2 is much more animated with a rotating head added for effect along with the obligatory audio and positionable legs.
