There's No Common Theme Today, Just A Bunch Of Really Cool Stuff!
Cards, Inc. was a U.K. based company in 2005 and among the many types of Star Wars collectibles it produced there was a set of 24 coins called "Medalionz". The standard release Medalionz, which came packaged in blind packs, was a set of 24 silver colored coins with an occasional gold colored chase coin mixed in. You could also buy this special set of bronze colored coins for around $50 plus shipping. Only 2,000 of this set was made which bumped up it's popularity amongst collectors. While I am still working on my gold set, this bronze set which I received today, gets me one step closer to the whole series.
Ever since the VCDs (or vinyl collector dolls) hit the $50+ dollar range, I've shied away from them. This ESB Boba Fett dropped in price online to $25, and I was all over it! With the bobble head dolls, I was hooked after buying just one. VCDs? I'll continue my clearance collecting.
And speaking of bobble heads this guy, the Shadow Stormtrooper, also appeared at a reduced price. He was down to $10 (from $12) but as long as I was paying freight on old Boba, I figured I'd grab him too.

It was all in the marketing. It gets me every time. The Canadian cardbacks for the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection (TAC) were all based upon the Darth Vader concept design. In the beginning all I wanted was one of each McQuarrie figure on the concept cardback. Then I started collecting the 2007 series on the Vader cardback. Finally I have jumped in with both feet and collected the Legends line on the Vader cardback. Here are the four latest figures ... TC-14, R4-I9, Biker Scout, and RA-7. I'm still missing a couple of figures from the TAC on the Canadian cardback, so the hunt continues. |

Animation cells. I'm on. I'm off. I'm on. I'm off. Right now I'm on. I received the Clone Wars C-3PO in the mail today. This is going to be one of those lines where I collect what catches my eye for now, and will pick up the rest later from estate sales and collection purchases. Not that many make it onto the secondary market, and I expect that they'll be some of the more challenging items to search for in future years. |
