    Collection Diary 05-01-06

    Collection Diary

From the Very Oldest to the Very Newest

My Collection Diary is a record of Star Wars collectibles as I acquire them. Some items come from eBay sellers, some from trades / friends, and some from store finds. Today's entry starts with an Australian R2-D2 coin bank from 1977 and concludes with the Target exclusive Skirmish in the Senate Battle Pack. To find out what each of my latest acquisitions are, you'll need to click on the link below to Read More!
This little R2 unit is causing me more trouble than he's worth. (Not really.) he's thin plastic manufactured in 1978, and definately R2 as the front sticker is muc too accurate to be a cheap knock-off. The back of him is stamped "Bank / Banque" and this plug reads, "Reliable. Made in Canada." While I don't have all of his details, he's welcome in my droid pool and seems to be working otu quite nicely.

The fine piece of Darth Vader art is less of a mystery. It's a litho from Best Buy. It was a premium for pre-ordering either the Star Wars Episode III: Revenge fo the Sith DVD, or the Rise of an Empire video game. (Front dust cover shown below.)

Today I received a pair of waterglobe ornaments by Encore. Chewbacca and R2-D2 float in globes of water with little bits of glitter that sparkle when shaken up. At $10 each (retail price) I found them a bit steep for my tastes. When I found them on eBay for $4.00 each with combined shipping available, I decided them to be much more pallitable for my collecting budget.

There's not much of a story behind the Appluase silly sipper straws. In teh USA they were released loose with sticky tags attached. These two are from the U.K., where they were released on cards.

If you're a frequent / daily reader of the website, you'll recognize this Tomy Rebel Fleet Trooper mini-helmet as the first bounty I posted. It was a great success, as you can see. The helmet was received in mint condition! Now... where can I find the exclusive ellusive Wedge X-Wing helmet ... ?? :)

A fellow collector by the name of Tre' is swapping me this UGH Anakin for a UGH Snowtrooper. Anakin arrived today in A+ condition! I haven't heard about the snowtrooper's arrival yet, but expect Tre' will be happy as well.

Skirmish in the Senate! This Target exclusive was found tonight ... at Target!! Keep your eyes open at your local store! With the pair of shock troopers, they're bound to sell quickly!
