    Collecting Diary 2005-03-22 Part 1

    Collection Diary

Today's Collection Diary Takes Six Entries

Even though most of those are food-related (which thank goodness store 'flat' in the collection room), the time it took to photograph end edit was significant.

Let's begin with this 400 page coloring/activity book by Dalamtion Press...
Recently I read back through the past year's entries in the diary, and I seem to criticize the collectibles quite a bit, rather then critique them. When it comes to products like this coloring book, it's no wonder. Named, "The Power of the Empire" and showing Darth Vader and a Classic Trilogy Stormtrooper on the cover, you might think that this was an Imperial-focused activity book. Wrong. Over 90% of it deals specifically with Episode I. I was puzzled (tee hee, "puzzled") as there was no Empire in Episode I, and it certainly wasn't a power struggle. For $6 it makes a great looking book to sit on the table, and it's good to see a huge book to keep the kids busy while they stand in line with Mom and Dad for hours, waiting to see the first showing of Episode III.

Rose Art Industries has re-entered the Star Wars arena with a large assortment of craft and fuzzy poster items. The big find today was at Toys R Us where these two 6"x9" fuzzy posters sneaked out onto the pegs early.
Expected from Rose Art this for the next movie:
  • Fuzzy t-shirt kit
  • Activity Roller Desk
  • Lite Up Tracing Desk
  • 16-pack of crayons
  • Darth Vader light-up glue bottle
  • Lightsaber gluestick
  • Magnetic playset
  • Set of 3 markers, Vader in Flames
  • Super Stamper Washable Markers
  • 4-pack mechanical pencils
  • 2-pack pencils, ''E-Racer'' toppers
  • 3-pack of pencils with toppers
  • Pencil: Clone Troopers
  • Pencil: General Grievous
  • Pencil: Star Wars
  • Pencil: Vader
  • 4-pack of pencils, 1 of each design
  • 8-pack pencils, 2 of each design
  • Fuzzy poster art 6''x9'' with 3 pens: Vader
  • Fuzzy poster art 6''x9'' with 3 pens Droids
  • Fuzzy posters 11''x15''
  • Fuzzy posters 16''x20''
  • Fuzzy super value set
  • 2-pack of roller stampers: Clone Trooper and Anakin
  • 2-pack of roller stampers Yoda and Darth Vader
  • Fun with tattoos and stickers
  • Presto Magix Empire Playset

The hand-fan at the top-right of this entry is from Japan. My friend Stuart had sent me the Episode II fan, but it wasn't until I came across this Episode I fan on eBay that I found out that there was actually a set of these; not just the single design. I'll wait with my fingers crossed that there will be one for Episode III so the collection will be well-rounded.

Today was the release of Clone Wars volume 1 on DVD! I used my birthday gift card from Brother Dave to buy the Rose Art fuzzy posters and this DVD. I went to Walmart afteward to try to find the Clone Wars 3-packs (Walmart exclusive) but no luck. I'll have to keep my eyes open for them.
