    Collecting Diary 2004-02-05

    Old Hobby, New Focus

It's no secret that if my collection was 'lite' in any one area, it's carded vintage figures. Since I try to be a completionist, including variations, I've felt carded figures are dangerous financially to fixate upon.

I picked up this Imperial Commander since he was cheap. Only $15! ...which was a good thing since he was poorly packed and popped through the top of his bubble in transit. //grrr...// Fortunately, he wasn't the reason I was buying figures from this seller.
Ever since the first time I saw the promotion, the mail-in coin stickers have had my eye. I've never tried to pick up a figure wit that promotion on it because they seemed to rarely come up for auction and usually bid kid of high.

This time, I took a chance, since I was getting the cheap Imperial Officer anyway, and got Admiral Ackbar and 8D8 for under $25 each! So, now I'm going to start my Vintage Carded Figure Collection by focusing on the ROTJ cards with coin offers.
