    Collection Diary Entry 2003-06-13

Friday the 13th ... a Bad Day for Scholastic

I am thankful that companies like Scholastic are willing to produce merchandise to keep the movie phoenonom alive, especially with the next generation of fans. Unfortunately, cost cutting (or just plain not caring) is about to cost them my business as a monthly subscriber.

Four months ago, I received no poster. This month I received no RPG cards. But it's not poor packing / handling that's got me in an uproar.

For the past 3 months Scholastic has been reprinting Episode I Adventures under the guise of new Episode II adventures.

This month's adventure, "Capture Arawynne" is number 9 in the new adventure line. Unfortunately, it was also number 7 in the Episode I adventures.

Scholastic response when emailed this trend as a complaint:

"Thank you for sharing your opinions on Scholastic's Star Wars club. We have passed on your comments and suggestions to our editorial and marketing department. Customer reaction to all aspects of our at-home reading programs is very important to us, and we thank you for taking the time to let us know what you think. Your continued interest in Scholastic is appreciated, and we look forward to serving you in the future."
